Tonometry
Tonometry is a procedure to measure the pressure inside the eye, which helps in diagnosing not just visual diseases but also related problems.
A Tonometry must be performed by an Ophthalmologist. The specialist could recommend it when a patient seems in risk of suffering from glaucoma due to advanced age.
This is a special condition that could cause blindness if it is left untreated.
This examination is performed with a computerized tonometer to check the eye pressure. It is recommended for people over 40 since glaucoma does not present any symptoms, and when the person detects certain problems it may be too late to treat.
There is no pain in this procedure because of the anesthesia used.
