Hospital Clínica Labrador History

   Hospital Clínica Labrador is the result of a need in San Isidro de El General, and the southern part of the country, of a medical center with all the necessary conditions and facilities with the highest possible quality.
   Before its appearance, private medical centers operated in places not intended for such purposes, like office buildings and houses.
   The first step in this project was the search of a spot to build this hospital. Essential aspects were taken into consideration for this first stage, such as strategic location and the possibility that the project will grow as time passes by. These objectives were fulfilled in the year 2000 when the first floor of the hospital started operations.
   Cardiologist Yamil Solano, MD; Ophthalmologist Juan C. Rodríguez Ruiz, MD; and Gynecologist Santiago Masís Herrera, MD, had in mind a medical center that offered security and quality for both patients and physicians. These are the ideas that spawned Hospital Clínica Labrador.
   With no doubt, Hospital Clínica Labrador is located in a strategic site. This private hospital is on the same street where the majority of medical services are found in San Isidro. Indeed, it is on the same street that leads to Escalante Pradilla Hospital, a state medical center managed by Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS –Social Security Institute). This strategic point makes it easy for people to find Hospital Clínica Labrador. In addition, patients in the public hospital can be taken to Hospital Clínica Labrador easily in case they decide to continue their treatment there.

Step by Step
   Hospital Clínica Labrador was opened in different stages. The first step was the opening of its first floor, which provides the Medical Consult Service. The second step started in December of 2005 with the second floor opening. It has rooms for patients to recover, medical treatment area and surgical facilities, and a special zone for newborn babies, among other services.
   The founding partners of this hospital are also in charge of managing each one of the three main areas that give services. Dr. Solano supervises emergencies and hospitalization of patients. Dr. Rodríguez manages the area of surgery, and Dr. Masís is in charge of gynecology and obstetrics.
   Currently, Hospital Clínica Labrador has permanent medical staff. All the physicians from the local hospital and others in the country who would like to use the facilities provided by this clinic can do so as long as their patients express their wish to be treated privately in “El Labrador.”

At present
   Several important surgeries were carried out in April, 2006, just four months after the hospitalization and surgical services started operations. These surgeries were carried out not only by the medical staff of Hospital Clínica Labrador, but also by other physicians who have found advanced technology, human quality, and safety for both doctors and patients in this center. In addition, many babies have been brought to this world under the highest sanitarian standards needed for such purposes, and with the help of the staff in charge.
